  7. The program will by itself generate patterns and cycle through the
  8. different palettes, however with a little persuasion the range of
  9. patterns can be influenced to produce different effects. At any
  10. time the screen may be saved in .NEO or .PI1 formats.

  12. To alter the patterns various keys are used and all these are shown
  13. in the Help screen which is accessible at any time when the program
  14. is running. If the screen is cluttered then pressing the * (asterisk)
  15. key clears it and drawing continues. If an interesting pattern is
  16. spoilt by a new pattern obliterating it then pressing Undo will cause
  17. the new pattern to disappear and the program will pause. In pause
  18. mode all the keys are still active.

  20. Jumping from one palette to another using the + and - keys can give
  21. special effects as black lines are skipped in some palettes. 
  22. Skipping some modes of pattern drawing can be effective. Up arrow
  23. jumps to the next pattern. A chosen effect can often be achieved by
  24. pressing keys in a sequence eg: Undo, Right Arrow, Down Arrow, Up
  25. Arrow. This example would remove the pattern currently being drawn,
  26. restart from the point where it stopped, pause then jump to the next
  27. mode of drawing.

  29. Experimentation is worthwhile and hopefully you will find the program
  30. useful for generating background screens or pictures. If you have
  31. only the compiled version and would like the STOS basic program then
  32. send me a disk (preferably with something on it) and I'll return it
  33. with the basic version. A stamp or SAE would be appreciated. Any
  34. suggestions for enhancement (or bugs found) should also be addressed
